An Author’s Meeting with Małgorzata Czyńska at KinoGram Cinema

On November 21st at 6:00 PM, join us at KinoGram Cinema (room 1) for an author’s meeting with Małgorzata Czyńska, the author of the biography “Julia Keilowa: A Metalsmith for Modern Times.” This unique event offers a chance to hear the story of an outstanding artist whose work helped shape the face of Polish design in the interwar period.

The biography, “Julia Keilowa: A Metalsmith for Modern Times,” meticulously reconstructs the life of this designer, whose work established new standards for everyday objects, giving them a timeless and elegant character. Julia Keilowa (1902–1943) created numerous designs including – commissioned by Norblin Factory – the iconic “Kula” sugar bowl, now recognized as a milestone in Polish design. This publication by Małgorzata Czyńska, developed in collaboration with Norblin Factory Museum, sheds new light on Keilowa’s work, positioning her within the broader context of European applied art alongside artists such as Sonia Delaunay, Jutta Sika, and Sylvia Stave.

Małgorzata Czyńska is a respected author, art historian, and journalist, known for works like “Kobro: A Leap into Space” and “Witkacy and Women,” both of which received acclaim in Poland and abroad. Her biography of Julia Keilowa represents yet another significant addition to her work.

The event will be moderated by Marta Popławska, a journalist and cultural enthusiast, whose conversation with the author is sure to create an inspiring atmosphere for discussion.

We invite all those interested in art history and Polish art deco to join this special event, which will allow us to rediscover the legacy of Julia Keilowa, one of the foremost figures in Polish design. Admission is free.
