From 3 October to 3 November 2026, Norblin Factory will host an exhibition of photographs by Szymon Brodziak entitled ‘You Are What You See’. Throughout the month, the artist’s black-and-white works will be on display in a classic, framed format. The exhibition will culminate in a unique event, ‘BRODZIAK IMMERSIVE’, which will take place on a single evening – 29 October – at Art Box Experience.
For over 26 years, Szymon Brodziak has been consistently building his distinctive, monochromatic world. Women, light, form and space occupy a special place in his photographs. The images often resemble scenes from films that were never made – leaving the viewer room for their own interpretation. The artist has received numerous international awards. As the youngest artist and the first Pole, he exhibited his work at the Helmut Newton Foundation Museum of Photography in Berlin.
Photography that goes beyond the frame
‘You are what you see’ is not only the title of the exhibition, but also a phrase that has accompanied Brodziak’s work for years. It encourages us to look closely and reflect on what catches our eye – and what that might say about ourselves. 29 October will see classic photography taken into a whole new dimension. Over the course of a single evening at the Art Box Experience on level +2 of the Norblin Factory, ‘BRODZIAK IMMERSIVE’ will take place – a multimedia performance combining image, sound and space.
A return to Norblin Factory
The story of Szymon Brodziak and Norblin Factory dates back to 2017. On 20 May that year, during Museum Night, on the site of the former factory on Żelazna Street – before the revitalisation process began – Warsaw’s first Brodziak Gallery was opened. It was housed in a distinctive, glass-fronted container, which had been placed within the raw, post-industrial space of the former factory. The gallery’s minimalist form and Brodziak’s distinctive black-and-white photographs were juxtaposed with the raw, post-industrial space, creating a striking backdrop for the works on display. The opening was accompanied, amongst other things, by a live photo shoot, during which the audience could observe the process of creating the photographs, as well as artistic and musical performances. After nearly ten years, the artist is thus returning to the Norblin Factory – this time to a space that has undergone a comprehensive regeneration and now combines the preserved heritage of the former factory with culture, art, gastronomy and entertainment.
